Liverpool can reserve its place in Champions League Round of 16 On Tuesday with Lille’s visit to Anfield. Arne Slott’s men are top of the league stage and have won all six of their matches so far having recently beaten Girona. Bruno Genesio’s team is in eighth place with 13 points and is in last place to directly qualify for the round of 16.
The hosts were fortunate to emerge from Spain with a clean sheet last time out, but remain in strong form on all fronts. The Reds lead Arsenal by six points in the Premier League with a game in hand while they are also in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. With two wins, two draws and one loss, with nine goals scored and four conceded, Liverpool will be wary of their French guest.
Lille beat Sturm Graz last time out, winning 3-2 after squandering a 2-0 lead only for Haakon Arnar Haraldsson to win it for Les Dogues. LOSC is third in Ligue 1 with 32 points after 18 matches and their current position deserves an automatic place in the Champions League for the 2025-26 season. Lille have won twice and drawn once away from home recently and are unbeaten on their travels since September, which is 11 matches in a row.

Liverpool is the only team in the Champions League that has won 100% of its matches in the league stage. The Reds also have the strongest defense in the competition, conceding just one goal. Sloat and his players are already in the playoff spot, but one more point would guarantee one of the eight automatic berths. Lille has only been defeated once in Europe this year and has not lost in its last five matches, with four victories in that series of matches. Geneseo is unbeaten in 21 games in all competitions with 12 wins.

Liverpool: Joe Gomez will be out until at least next month, although it would be surprising if Slot took a risk on Ibrahim Konate here with Wataru Endo also a potential partner for Virgil van Dijk in defence. It is doubtful that Diogo Jota Luis Diaz will lead the attack alongside Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa. Harvey Elliott could start after impressing against Brentford while Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch could form the midfield.

night: Thiago Santos is a long-term absentee while Samuel Umtiti also remains out through injury at least this month. Thomas Meunier, Paavo Diakite, Alexandru Ribeiro and Ismaili should be in the defensive line behind Benjamin Andre and Ayoub Boadi, with Ethan Mbappe and Nabil Bentaleb both unavailable. Geneseo could send Mitchell Bakker, Remy Capela and Assam Sahraoui behind Jonathan David in the absence of Edun Zegrova and Matias Fernandes Pardo.
