President Donald Trump said that the United States “will take over” and “King” of Gaza after ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians from the besieged pocket in light of an extraordinary plan that he claimed to turn the pocket into “Riviera in the Middle East.”
Hamas, the Palestinian group that governs Gaza, has quickly condemned the proposal as “a recipe for chaos and tension in the region.”
Trump’s statement of his plans in Gaza came while addressing a press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is what he told reporters:
