Legislators threw bombs and manipulations inside the National Legislative Commission on Tuesday, causing injuries
The Serbian parliament session briefly took place to chaos on Tuesday when opposition deputies set out of smoke and tear gas to protest against the government, causing serious injuries.
With the start of the spring session on Tuesday, the tensions agreed when the ruling coalition, led by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), agreed to the legislative agenda. Some politicians rushed to their seats towards the spokesperson, which led to a fight with security guards.
Parliament was to adopt an increasing law for universities – one of the main demands for students who have been protesting since December. In addition, a discussion was scheduled to take a debate about the resignation of Prime Minister Milus Vucevic. However, opposing parliament members have argued that it is inappropriate to adopt bills proposed by the government of its prime minister already.
Vucevic announced his resignation in the next January of anti -government demonstrations about alleged corruption and neglect. The disturbances were fueled by public anger due to the collapse of a concrete umbrella at the Novi Sad railway in November 2024, which killed 15 people. Vucevic claimed that the protests were organized from abroad to transfer a coup.
On Tuesday, live TV footage showed black and pink smoke filling the room, as opposition deputies also threw water and eggs towards the platform.
Despite the deaf noise, the spokeswoman Anna Barnabek pushed forward with the session. The opposition was condemned to waste eggs, on the pretext that they could feed hundreds of families.
Three legislators were wounded, including 64 -year -old Obradovic, SNS, who suffered a stroke and remains in critical condition. “The woman is fighting for her life after she threw her flash,” Bernabek said opposition deputies. According to the Serbian President Alexander Fuzic Obradovic visited in the hospital.
Another deputy, Sonia Elek, who is eight -year -old, felt a confirmation due to noise and smoke. Representative Yasma Karanak suffered a head injury after she had fireworks.
The public protests began in the north of the city, Novi Sad, last November, and since then it has spread to the capital, Belgrade, led by students in the first place. Lessons were canceled in dozens of university colleges and schools due to the boycott of students.
Vocic accused the country’s opposition, in cooperation with foreign intelligence agencies, to destabilize the country, describing the protests as an attempt at “Color Revolution.” He claimed specifically that the alliance of Western, Croatian and Albanian interests is working “To destroy Serbia from the inside”, He pledged that the government has no intention to surrender.
After Tuesday, people gathered outside the parliament building, and banned a major means in Belgrade. Media reports indicate that the protest leaders have called for a large gathering in the capital on March 15.
