“Twin Peaks” alum Mädchen Amick pays tribute to David Lynch

After David Lynch’s unexpected death, his legacy lives on through his work and the people lucky enough to know him.

Mädchen Amick, who played waitress Shelly Johnson on the popular Lynch-produced ABC series Twin Peakspaid tribute to the show’s creator in a heartfelt statement on Friday after his death at the age of 78.

“It is difficult for me to find the words to express the loss of a brilliant genius, but more importantly, he was simply a wonderful man,” she said. “David Lynch was my mentor. How lucky have I been? He was also my dear friend. Always there for a random check-in or life-changing piece of advice.

“He was my north star. He watched me grow. He watched me become a mother. He encouraged me when I sat in the director’s chair. I will hold those long conversations we had in his house on the hill very close to my heart. We laughed. We cried. We remained inspired. I will miss you, David,” he added. Amick, who signed the statement: “And I’ll see you on the other side.”

After running it like Shelley Twin Peakswhich ran for two seasons from 1990 to 1991, Amick reprized the role in the 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walks With Me The Showtime limited series was revived for 2017 Twin Peaks: Back.

Lynch’s family announced his death on Thursday after he was diagnosed with emphysema. Sources told Deadline that he was forced to move out of his home due to the Sunset Fire and then it took a turn for the worse.

His family said in a statement: “It is with great regret that we and his family announce the death of the man and artist David Lynch.” “We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, he says, ‘Keep your eye on the cake and not the hole.'” It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.
