Hollywood treated conservative Clint Eastwood like a second-class citizen this year.
Warner Bros. got rid of it. From Eastwood Company Well-reviewed film“Juror #2” in a number of theaters before moving to Max. Is this a way to treat the myth? Was it something he said…or someone he voted for?
Even the liberal media The studio called for dismissal.
The industry has been much worse for Tim Allen, another conservative outlier.
ABC cancels Allen’s show ‘Last Man Standing’ In 2017 despite strong ratings. He criticized Allen, claiming that his policies helped determine his fate. The star, like his on-screen character Mike Baxter, leans to the right.
… There is nothing more dangerous, especially in this climate, than a funny, likeable conservative.
Right or wrong, cancellation smelled funny. Suspicious. Remember, the Hollywood Blacklist 2.0 is very real.
A few years later, Disney decided to give Allen’s Buzz Lightyear his own movie. So the Mouse Houses hired Chris Evans to voice the beloved Toy Story character Lightyear.
What? Why do we bypass Allen, the actor who gave the character his distinctive personality?
Suspicious. once again.
“Lightyear” was one of the most notorious flops that exposed the turmoil in the industry.
- deflation
- Dueling strikes
- Streaming platforms are bleeding money
- Increasing competition from content creators and video gamers on YouTube.
Suddenly, Hollywood wanted to get back to Tim Allen’s work.
Disney has rehired him to revive the “Santa Clause” series in 2022. “The Santa Clauses” has run for two successful seasons, and there is still a possibility of a third season.
That may depend on Allen’s latest project.
The comedy headlines “Shifting Gears,” a new ABC comedy series co-starring Kat Dennings. The show follows Allen as he welcomes back his adult daughter (Dennings) and her teenage children under his roof.
Yes, the same network that mysteriously canceled “Last Man Standing” is eager to work with Allen, at least now.
See the pattern?
The show will debut on January 8, and co-stars Seann William Scott, Jenna Elfman, and Daryl Mitchell, who previously collaborated with Allen on “Galaxy Quest.”
Allen remains a popular and versatile performer, and ABC could use the ratings. Who can’t?

Perhaps the best example of Allen’s revenge tour comes from the Mouse House.
Not only will Allen return as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5, but the actor will have a big role. This is according to an exclusive interview conducted by Allen Collider about it.
“It’s a very clever story. Would you want to do five of these? I don’t really think it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they’re doing it. If they hadn’t come up with a great script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called B and Tom [Hanks]”.
Hollywood would rather keep Allen on the professional sidelines, probably. His populist appeal and right-leaning views make him a poor fit for the studios’ liberal groupthink.
It still shows a jobthough.
His ability to captivate audiences in an increasingly uncertain industry means his revenge tour has only just begun.
