The Hollywood star says ‘please stop’ the haters, after sharing a GoFundMe in support of the bushfires
Mandy Moore is responding to the criticism she received after sharing GoFundMe links on her Instagram page.
The actress/singer’s family has been affected by the ongoing California wildfires and had to evacuate her home in Altadena along with several other residents. After her return, Moore noted that “the main part” of her family home was still standing, but that it was ultimately “not livable, but mostly intact.” Unfortunately, every house on her street is “gone.”
Moore then shared some GoFundMe pages on her Instagram account, including her in-laws, who she mentioned were just weeks away from welcoming their first child. This angered followers who claimed that the actress should be donating her own money instead of asking “regular people”. Moore provided the following response in the now-deleted Instagram post:
“People wonder if we are helping our families or crediting someone with an arbitrary amount of money that Google says is not helpful or compassionate,” Moore wrote. “Of course we are. Our friend is dead.” I started a GoFundMe I’m sharing because people have asked how they can help. We lost most of our lives in a fire too. Please F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.
Eaton fire 3% included More than 13,690 acres were burned.
