Barcelona star Ansu Fati found it very difficult to adapt to his complete exclusion from the club’s last round.
Barcelona, of course, returned to action on Wednesday night.
After making the trip to Saudi Arabia, the Blaugrana faced Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup.
When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops advanced to the final point, thanks to a 2-0 win.
But the aforementioned Ansu Fati did not play any role…
In fact, the Spaniard was not even called up by coach Flick, despite the fact that Dani Olmo and Pau Victor remained unavailable for selection.
Instead, 16-year-old Tony Fernandes has been given the nod to take his place among Barcelona’s substitutes.
As noted above, if the final word coming out of the media is anything to go by, the significance of that much is not at all lost on Ansu himself.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo:
“The player is physically fit, so his exclusion surprised him. [It was] A rejection that left the attacker extremely emotionally affected.
