Stephen King: The Oscars have been cancelled

Stephen King has an uneasy relationship with Hollywood.

The horror author’s works have inspired dozens of films. The quality deviates from the Oscar-winning film (“Misery”) to endless segments of “Children of the Corn.” That short story spawned a franchise that refuses to die.

One of the relics, the “speed limit”, is all his fault. King directed the failed 1986 film.

Now, King is thinking about this year’s Oscars race. Specifically, the author says The show should not go on. King said the same thing on Blue Sky, home to liberals who need a safe space from conservative viewpoints.

Not voting at the Oscars this year. IMHO they should cancel it. There is no interface with Los Angeles on fire.

The author got a lot of opposition to this view. Here is just one of many responses.

The city needs it – even if you don’t. They employ a lot of people and help support and promote one of our largest industries. Complaining about the Oscars is the exact opposite of supporting our city.

So far, it is holding company.

I hear what you guys are saying about the Oscars, how they’re a celebration of life, and the show must go on, blah blah blah, and so forth. This all makes some sense, but to me it still feels like Nero is messing around while Rome burns. Or in this case, dressing fancy while Los Angeles burns.
