Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure at Tottenham Hotspur, with the former Celtic boss struggling to bring any sort of consistency in the Premier League.
Postecoglou’s time at Tottenham has had a bit of an ups and downs. After a brilliant start, the former Celtic boss is under increasing pressure as he drops ridiculous points in the league with inconsistent results.
However, Ange negotiated a tough Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool last night as they beat the Premier League leaders 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night to give themselves a chance of winning their first trophy at the club.
Speaking about the win, former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder, Charlie Adam, shared how impressed he was with the win and says
Charlie Adam says Ange Postecoglou is building a Celtic ‘mentality’ at Tottenham
Adam told Football Daily [8m 30s]”For me, I like the sound of that. It’s the mentality, right Aang?” [is bringing].
“Wherever Ange goes, he wins, doesn’t he? He’s won titles with Celtic, which is a big club with that mentality. That’s what drives him to the staff.
“Even though Liverpool are coming to town and they are the best team in the league at the moment, why can’t we win even though we have injuries? We are not making any excuses.”
“I don’t think Ange has made an excuse for his injuries. There are injuries, we know that, but the mentality is: no, we can win, we can win at home. We have good players and I was impressed by that.”
It’s a nice change to see Celtic being used in a positive context when it comes to Postecoglou with many taking advantage of his time at the Hoops to try and belittle his coaching achievements. Even if the positivity is coming from the former Rangers man.
Ange Postecoglou’s next five Premier League games could determine the future of the former Celtic boss Tottenham
Postecoglou will now be under pressure to produce more positive results after their win over Liverpool last night, and his next five matches will not be easy, with the exception of one:
- Sunday 12 January: FA Cup – Third Round – Tamworth vs Tottenham Hotspur
- Wednesday, January 15: Premier League – Arsenal vs. Tottenham Hotspur
- Sunday, January 19: Premier League – Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur
- Thursday, January 23: Europa League – Hoffenheim vs. Tottenham Hotspur
- Sunday, January 26: Premier League – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City
Assuming Postecoglou wins four out of five of those games, you have to imagine the pressure will raise the Spurs manager’s game a bit.
But anything less could put the former Hoops champion’s future as Tottenham manager under serious threat as does his hope of one day bringing the glory days back to this top club.
