Moore revealed that her brother and his wife watched their house burn to the ground, and they are currently awaiting their first child.
“With their first child due in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever,” Moore wrote on Instagram. “Griff is a touring musician who also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussions that he uses to make a living.”
The page surpassed its $60,000 goal, reaching $199,000 within days — though Moore has since faced suggestions that she should donate her fortune to their cause.
“And people asking if we are helping our family or crediting some arbitrary amount of money that Google says someone is not helpful or compassionate,” she responded on Instagram.
“Of course we are. Our friend Matt started this GoFundMe and I’m sharing it because people have asked how they can help.

Since issuing her brutal response, her colleague Spencer Pratt — who along with his wife Heidi Montag and their children lost their entire home in the fires — has jumped to Moore’s defense.

“She has her own life, her own kids. So don’t come for Mandy Moore.”
Spencer and his wife Heidi were among the first celebrities to reveal that their home had been destroyed as a result of the fires, which initially swept through the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on Tuesday (January 7).
