Odanta Singh replaces the wounded Brandon Fernandez in the Indian football team before the Bangladesh match

The main midfielder Brandon Fernandez was released from the Indian team due to an injury before the 2027 Asian Cup qualifications match against Bangladesh in Chilung on March 25. The wing was replaced by Odanta Singh. Fernandez picked up the injury during India’s 3-0 victory over the Maldives in a friendly international match on March 19. Limited on the grass late in the first half and was coordinated outside the field. “Brandon Fernandez was released from the Indian team due to an injury to the match against the Maldives. Odanta Singh joined the Indian camp in Chilung,” said the Football Association at all India (AIFA) on Friday.

Speaking after the Maldives match, coach Manolo Marquez confirmed that Fernandez will not be available for the Bangladesh match.

India is already without striker Manver Singh and Passy Lyianzwalia Changit, both due to the injury, although Sonel Chatteri is a talisman of international retirement to help the team qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup.

Tashtry scored his 95th international goal against the Maldives, on his return to India’s shirts.

India is placed in Group C in the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup alongside Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Singapore, and only the highest team that qualifies the continental lineage.
