Not just wives and families, BCCI will ban these people from touring to ‘enforce discipline’ after Australia loss




The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is said to be taking a tough stance on issues of indiscipline among Indian cricketers, with new regulations being discussed to streamline player behavior and compliance. “Indian cricketers are undisciplined,” a BCCI source revealed. Players will also be prohibited from using independent transportation to get around during training and matches. On a 45-day tour, players’ family members can only be with them for a maximum of 14 days. In addition, a senior player proposed the bold move during a recent meeting of withholding match fees from players who choose to skip domestic tournaments.

The source added: “One of the senior players was present at the meeting to suggest to the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry the idea of ​​not distributing match fees to players who do not want to play locally.”

In a bid to enhance discipline, the BCCI has also decided to ban players from traveling with personal staff, including chefs, hairdressers, stylists or personal security guards, on tours.

“Players are not allowed to travel with their personal staff (cook, hairdresser, stylist, without personal security guard) on tour anymore,” the source added.

The stringent measures taken by the Board are aimed at ensuring a more professional and unified team culture while prioritizing the development of cricket at all levels.
