Next Dallas Cowboys coach odds: Who will replace Mike McCarthy?

America’s largest internship search is taking place at Big D.

The Dallas Cowboys parted ways with former coach Mike McCarthy on Monday, which means Jerry Jones is officially in the market for a signal-caller.

Who will land the gig as Team America’s new sideline maestro?

Let’s check out the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of January 15th.

Brian Flores (MIN DC): +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)
Bill Belichick (UNC HC): +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)

Talk about a star-studded roster.

At the top of the spreadsheet is the biggest name in college football — well, arguably, in all of football — Deion Sanders.

His odds appear to be dwindling, as they settled at +100 on Tuesday and have since moved to -150 as of Wednesday.

Sanders is a Hall of Fame player who won Super Bowl XXX with the Cowboys just a few decades ago. He spent the last two seasons as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, going 4-8 in 2023 and 9-4 in 2024, after CU went 1-11 in 2022.

FOX Sports NFL reporter Ralph Vaciano had this to say about Sanders’ nomination for the highest-profile coaching job in NFL football:

“Although he doesn’t always act that way in his business decisions, Jones is a showman at heart. He understands how to get attention and how to sell a product. And who knows more about these things than ‘Coach Prime’?” But Sanders has proven that he is more than just flash and hype, he is a really good coach Jackson State to an FCS power, then turned Colorado into a bowl team. He’s also a recruiting expert, which might help at least a little in free agency.

“The lack of NFL coaching experience doesn’t matter because he brings instant credibility as a Hall of Fame NFL player. He was respected and made the Cowboys play hard. Prime time will get them ready for prime time when the playoffs come, too.”

Mike McCarthy is out as Dallas Cowboys coach

Second on the board is a top-tier contender in Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Vaciano said of Moore’s nomination:

“He was a popular offensive coordinator in Dallas from 2019-22, when his offense ranked No. 1 overall in the NFL twice and No. 11 and 14 the other two seasons. Things didn’t end well when McCarthy wanted to start calling his team.” He plays, but Moore still has plenty of friends in the organization as well. In his first year in Philadelphia, he revitalized an entire Eagles offense that had been in disarray in 2023 and finished eighth that season. With a scheme built around the running back Saquon Barkley And a strong rushing attack. “That sounds like something a cowboy could use.”

Arguably the biggest shocker when it comes to odds is the name that has moved up to third on the board as of January 15: former Jets coach Robert Saleh.

Saleh was fired on October 8, after the Jets started the current season 2-3. He spent just over three seasons with the franchise, compiling 20-36 overall.

The Jets never made the playoffs under Saleh.
