According to several reports, proposals for the site include a 20,000-square-foot main house, a bungalow, a gym, multiple offices, a collection of guest homes and nature trails.

In 2014, Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan reportedly spent $100 million to acquire two massive parcels of land on Kauai’s North Shore — about 700 acres that included an organic farm and 2,500 feet of ocean frontage. Filled with tropical plants and coastal views, planning documents call for a two-bedroom, 6,100-square-foot house, a 16-bay garage, and a “farm management building” with security offices.

The couple significantly expanded their Hawaii portfolio in 2021, purchasing an additional 595.4 acres for $53 million and another 110 acres for $17 million, bringing the total to more than 1,400 acres. Historically, this land was used for sugarcane and includes the Ka Loko Reservoir. Perhaps unsurprisingly, these transactions have caused some tension among local communities, raising awkward questions about ancestral ties and cultural ties to the land.

A previous dispute in 2016 highlighted these sensitivities: Zuckerberg’s legal team filed lawsuits against local families who owned small plots of inherited land within the boundaries of his estate.
