Mandy Moore is grateful for her friendship with Hilary Duff. Over the past week, Moore and her family have lost their homes, as they all live near each other in Altadena.
In a new Instagram post, Moore’s brother-in-law, Griffin Goldsmith, revealed that she was staying with Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma, who supported them throughout the entire ordeal.
“It’s all so overwhelming. But what’s equally overwhelming is the amount of love and generosity we’re receiving. Our dear friends Matthew Koma and Hilary Duff thought it wise to set up a joint fund for us to help with everything moving forward,” Goldsmith wrote via a slideshow of photos of the remains of his home. And his burning revelation.
“Not to mention, they’re currently housing my brother’s family. They’ve taken care of my entire family since the moment this started.”
Griffin revealed that he and his wife encouraged their families to join them in the neighborhood where they lived, which resulted in the loss of all their homes. “We convinced our entire family and close friends to join us in Altadena,” he wrote.
“Our parents were right around the corner. They lost their house too. Taylor and Mandy are right up the street. All these houses are gone. The thing we grieve the most is the loss of community.”
Moore reveals that parts of her home were destroyed by fires
In a post of her own, Moore shared photos of the remains of her home. She revealed that although her house is unlivable, the main part of the house is almost intact.
“We were able to stand and walk down our street to bear witness to all the loss. Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s unlivable but mostly intact,” she wrote.
She wrote that her entire family lost everything, which left her with a strange form of survivor’s guilt.
“We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support. Thank you everyone for checking in on us and helping us. Altadena is strong.”
