Mandy Moore is clapping back at critics after sharing a GoFundMe with her brother-in-law

Mandy Moore isn’t backing down from those who have a problem helping her family amid the wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles.
In a message posted on Instagram on Thursday, January 9, this is us The actress revealed that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Griff and Kate Goldsmith, lost their home and all their possessions in the Eaton fire.
“With the arrival of their first child in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever,” Moore wrote, explaining that her husband Taylor Goldsmith’s brother, Griff, is a touring musician who lost his entire arsenal of musical instruments. It is used to earn a living.
“It’s all too much,” Moore, 40, continued, adding, “Many have asked how to help during this unimaginably difficult time… Please consider donating and participating to help them rebuild.”
She then shared a link to her GoFundMe in her bio.
Moore later hinted that she received backlash to raise awareness for a GoFundMe to benefit her extended family. “People who ask if we’re helping our family or crediting some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone aren’t being helpful or compassionate,” she noted in the edited caption.
“Of course we are,” Moore insisted, explaining that her friend and Hilary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, a player on the Winnetka bowling team, “started a GoFundMe and I’m sharing it because people have asked how they can help.”
The star then added that she and her family “just lost most of our lives in a fire, too.”
The post concluded: “Please, no one is forcing you to do anything.”
