Manchester United are monitoring Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku as the Blues consider signing Alejandro Garnacho in January.
Nkunku has scored 13 goals in 13 starts this season, but has seen his first-team opportunities largely limited to the Europa League and cup competitions.
The France international has started just three Premier League matches under Enzo Maresca. The situation left Nkunku unhappy at Stamford Bridge with United interested in the former RB Leipzig star in December.
Bayern Munich are now looking to sign the 27-year-old, but United’s interest remains.
espn Report Ruben Amorim’s side have asked to be kept informed of developments regarding the striker’s future this month as Nkunku prepares to leave Stamford Bridge.
This comes at a time when Chelsea are considering making a formal offer for United star Jarnacho. The Argentina international, one of United’s top talents, could leave Old Trafford this month.
While they are not actively looking to force the winger out of the club, their financial situation means realistic offers will be considered.
Napoli are also interested in signing Jarnacho, but it is believed the winger would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
United initially set an asking price of £70m to sign the player, a fee similar to the price Chelsea wanted to sign Nkunku.
United suffers from a severe lack of scoring goals this season, with top scorer Amad Diallo with six goals.
Their options above Rasmus Hoglund and Joshua Zirkzee are down to just five players in all competitions, with the Dane going 10 games without a goal.
United are operating under a very tight budget this month, with full-backs their top priority before the mid-season window closes on February 3.
Lecce star Patrick Dorjo has been identified as a prime target with talks ongoing to bring the Danish international to Manchester.
United have made an opening bid of £25m, with Lecce valuing the 20-year-old at £33.6m.
Elsewhere, United are close to offloading winger Anthony, who is set to join Real Betis on loan until the end of the season.
The Brazil international, signed from Ajax for £85m in Erik ten Hag’s first summer, has been woefully out of form over the past 18 months.
Reports suggest that Betis is willing to cover the majority of Anthony’s salary, a move that will provide United with more space to operate in the final weeks of the January window.
