Mel Gibson’s house in Malibu was destroyed in the Palisades fire he revealed, while he was away recording a podcast with Joe Rogan in Austin, Texas.

The Oscar-winning actor and director shared the news during a phone interview with NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas reports.

Gibson, who spoke via footage showing the remains of his home, said he was doing well in the wake of the devastation.

“Obviously it’s kind of devastating. It’s emotional,” he said.

Gibson said he was “uncomfortable” during the podcast with Rogan because he knew his neighborhood was on fire.

“When I got home, sure, [the house] “He wasn’t there,” he told Vargas.

“I came home and said to myself, ‘Well, at least I don’t have any of these annoying plumbing problems anymore.’

He said he and his girlfriend were evacuated, but she remained in California while he went to Texas to prepare the podcast.
