Raudonix’s death at the age of 70 from cancer on Wednesday 7 April 2021 left the sport sad, with Wayne Bennett declaring, “They’re not like Tommy anymore.” Known for his ‘cattle dog’ logo which brought passion back to the home state during and immediately after the Super League War, Rawdonix was one of rugby league’s greatest figures.
News of Rawdonics’ ill health spread in rugby league circles earlier this week. Bennett and Rawdonics made their first tour together in Australia in 1971. Bennett was a 21-year-old policeman and Rawdonics was already one of the great figures in the game.
