Duff and Koma also helped launch GoFundMe campaign To the Goldsmith family after they also lost their home. The campaign has generated nearly $205,000 and is still ongoing.

“This is all so overwhelming,” Goldsmith wrote on the Instagram page for the band Dawes, which he shares with his brother and Moore’s husband, Taylor Goldsmith. “But what is no less amazing is the amount of love and generosity we are receiving. Our dear friends Matthew Koma and Hilary Duff thought it would be wise to set up a GoFundMe for us to help move forward. Not to mention, they are currently housing my brother’s family. They have taken care of my entire family from the moment this started The thing is, I will never be able to thank them enough. This is the kindest thing any human being can do for another. They are the most beautiful, selfless people we have ever known.

Moore and Dove grew up in Hollywood at the same time as the leading teen stars of the early 2000s. They both had Disney projects as major launching pads for their acting careers (Duff in “Lizzy Maguire” and Moore in “The Princess Diaries”) and also released several popular songs during their music careers.

In his Instagram post, Griffin Goldsmith also thanked all the donors who raised money for his family in the wake of their losses in the Los Angeles fires.

“I want to thank everyone who has donated to this fund, or shared the link with other people. I have never been so touched in my life,” he wrote. “We are absolutely blown away. I can’t talk or think about it without crying. You all have completely changed what our future looks like in Los Angeles.

Moore herself shared a GoFundMe page on her Instagram profile, only to find herself at the center of backlash, with some claiming she should donate her own money to support her in-laws. Social media users began sharing the Celebrity Net Worth statistic claiming Moore’s net worth is $14 million as proof that she has enough money to help her family without asking others to donate. Moore ended up addressing the backlash on social media.

“People wonder if we are helping our families or crediting someone with an arbitrary amount of money that Google says is not helpful or compassionate,” Moore wrote. “Of course we are. Our friend is dead.” I started a GoFundMe I’m sharing because people have asked how they can help. We lost most of our lives in a fire too. Please F OFF. “No one is forcing you to do anything.”
