Following news of Alba and Warren’s split, a source told PEOPLE they are still “friends and all about the kids.”

“No matter what happens now, it looks like they will stay close,” the source said. “If they’re filing for divorce, it’s not because of some nasty drama. They still seem happy together. Jess has mentioned over the years that it’s hard to keep the spark going.”

Alba and Warren first met in Vancouver in 2004 while filming the movie Fantastic Four. The actress played Sue Storm, while Warren served as assistant director.

Both Alba and Warren have been spotted on outings in recent weeks without wearing their wedding rings, although the couple put up a united front to celebrate their son’s seventh birthday earlier in January.
