As the fires continued to spread throughout the Los Angeles area, thousands of homes, businesses, and many other buildings were destroyed. Celebrities have spoken out about the loss of their homes and urged people to donate money to relief efforts.
Hollywood events like the premieres of “Wolf Man” and “The Pitt” have been canceled, and production on shows like “Fallout,” “Hacks,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Suits: LA” and many others has been temporarily halted. Nominations for the Academy Awards, PGA Awards and WGA Awards have been postponed. The 2025 Critics’ Choice Awards, originally scheduled to be held on January 12, have been moved to January 26, and the BAFTA Tea Party and AFI Luncheon have also been postponed.
Jamie Lee Curtis donated $1 million to relief efforts after fires burned through her neighborhood in Pacific Palisades.
“You know, where I live is on fire right now. The whole city of Pacific Palisades is on fire. I flew out here last night, and I was on the plane, and I started getting text messages, and it was annoying, guys,” she said on The Tonight Show. “It’s just a disaster in Southern California.” “Everything: the market I shop at, the schools my kids go to. Many, many friends have now lost their homes. So it’s a really terrible situation.”
Billy Crystal and his wife lost their home in Pacific Palisades, where they lived for 46 years.
“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We feel pain for our friends and neighbors who also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy,” he said in a statement. “Janice and I have lived in our home since 1979. We have raised our children and grandchildren here. It was Every inch of our home is filled with love and beautiful memories that cannot be erased.”
Milo Ventimiglia, whose wife is nine months pregnant, lost his home to fires in Malibu. He revealed during an interview with CBS News that he learned about the fire through security footage.
Anthony Hopkins’ home, which he bought in 2021, burned down, according to the Daily Mail, as did John Goodman’s home in Pacific Palisades and Miles Teller’s home between Palisades Bluffs and Palisades Village, which he bought in 2023.
TMZ reports that Jeff Bridges’ Malibu home burned down, as did producer Candy Spelling’s home. “I’m in shock and dealing with this huge loss for our family,” she told TMZ. “I’m so grateful for the memories. It was truly an amazing gift to receive.”
Paris Hilton’s beachfront house in Malibu also burned down. The reality star took to X to share some words of support for those suffering from the Los Angeles fires. I wrote“, “Praying for Los Angeles/California now.”
Eugene Levy lost his home in Pacific Palisades. “The smoke looked very black and intense over the Temescal Valley,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “I couldn’t see any flames but the smoke was very dark.”
Mandy Moore, who posted Tuesday about the evacuation, seemed to indicate that her house had burned down. I wrote on Her Instagram story“This is Altadena. Flat. My sweet home. I’m devastated by those of us who have lost so much. I’m completely numb.”
The Princess Bride actor Cary Elwes posted that he and his wife, Lisa Marie Elwes, lost their home but are “grateful to have survived this truly devastating fire.”

Actor James Woods broke down in tears on CNN after a fire destroyed his home in Pacific Palisades.
“One day you’re swimming in the pool, and the next day it’s all gone,” Woods said on the air. “There was so much chaos, it was like hell. Every house around us was on fire.”
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s home in Pacific Palisades burned down, as did Anna Faris’ home, TMZ reported. Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren posted on Instagram that her beach house she had owned for nearly 30 years was destroyed by fire.
“There is a rainbow shining on it, which I consider a sign of hope for all creatures affected by this tragedy,” she wrote. “The animals and the rescue farm are doing well, that’s the most important thing. Stay safe everyone.”
Reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag lost their home, as well as Pratt’s parents’ home.
“The only positive sign I saw when our house burned was that our sons’ bed burned into the shape of a heart,” Pratt wrote. “A sign of how much love was in this house, so grateful for all the years and memories spent there with our family.”

Mel Gibson participated in NewsNation interview on Thursday that his Malibu home had burned down in the fires — but his chickens survived. “It was amazing,” he said. “They were fine, so we gave them some grains and some water and they’re happy and laying eggs and stuff. So, they weren’t roast chickens.”
It happened while Gibson was in Austin, Texas, filming Joe Rogan’s podcast. Gibson lived 14 or 15 years, he said. “I was feeling kind of uncomfortable as we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire, so I thought, ‘I wonder if my place is still there.’ But when I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there. I went home.” And I thought to myself: Well, at least I don’t have any of these annoying plumbing problems anymore.
Gibson said his neighbor, actor Ed Harris, also lost his home. “I think his place is gone. And a lot of my friends up and down the street,” Gibson continued. “It was kind of random, it wasn’t everywhere, but it was in quite a few places. There were a dozen or so places that weren’t there…the perfect firestorm. “I mean, my place is like Dresden.”
