The President of the United States (the United States), Donald Trump, revealed his social account in fact that he imposes an additional 25 % tariff, to 50 % on aluminum and steel imports from Canada to the United States. He added that it would happen on March 12.
Trump’s condition to remove customs tariffs is that Canada drops agricultural tariffs by 250 % to 390 % on various American dairy products, as shown in office. He added that he will announce a national emergency on electricity in New York, Michigan and Minnesota after the Prime Minister in Ontario imposed 25 % on electricity.
Moreover, it threatens car duties on April 2.
Market reaction
The US dollar/CAD gathered from 1.4410 to 1.4477 before clearing the psychological number 1.4500, as buyers look at the peak of March at 1.4542.
