Lawmakers in America are concerned about the possibility of the Chinese government accessing user data through the social media application and using it to spread misleading information around the world.

TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, and Congress has given them an ultimatum: either sell the app to a US government-approved company or the app will be banned in America.
