Actress Mandy Moore has responded to the backlash she received for posting a GoFundMe link after her house burned down in the Los Angeles wildfires.

Out-of-control fires continue to completely destroy parts of Los Angeles, and evacuations have been necessary for many who live and own businesses there — including celebrities.

Los Angeles is known for being an A-list hotspot, but no one is safe from a natural disaster. and this is us Star Mandy Moore, 40, is just one of the stars who lost their family home during the fire.

But the actress received some backlash online after sharing a GoFundMe link amid the chaos.

She shared the story of her in-laws, who were only weeks away from having their first child, and who lost their home to the bushfires.

She documented the extent of their loss on her Instagram account, writing: “My brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff and Kate lost their home and everything they owned in the Eaton fire.

“With their first child arriving in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever. Griff is a touring musician and has also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion instruments that he uses to earn a living.”

The star added: “It’s all a lot. Many have asked how to help during this unimaginably difficult time… Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild.”

While the couple aimed to raise $60,000, the total currently stands at $199,000.

But critics criticized Moore, suggesting she donate her fortune to their cause.

Speaking about the comments, Moore said: “And people asking whether we’re helping our families or attributing some arbitrary amount of money that Google says someone is giving isn’t helpful or compassionate.”

“Of course we are. Our friend Matt started this GoFundMe and I’m sharing it because people have asked how they can help.”

She added in a heated moment: “We just lost most of our lives in a fire too. Please stop. No one is forcing you to do anything.”

Although the entire street was burned to ash and rubble, Moore said the main part of her house was “intact.”

The mother of three explained: “Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. Right now. It’s unlivable but mostly intact. We lost the garage and the back house. Everyone we know has lost everything. Every house on our street is gone.”

It comes as Kim Kardashian has faced criticism over claims of “wasting the water supply” at her $60 million home in The Oaks.
