Hollywood celebrities evacuated due to Los Angeles wildfires as awards calendar affected

Hollywood celebrities are among the thousands evacuated from their homes as fires rage in areas of Los Angeles.

Burning fires in Los Angeles have destroyed the homes of several celebrities, including Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton, with others such as Star Wars star Mark Hamill having to evacuate.

Firefighters are battling a 3,000-acre wildfire that has forced the evacuation of tens of thousands.

More than 1,900 buildings have been destroyed, and the number is expected to rise. More than 130,000 people are also under evacuation orders in the metropolitan area, from the inland Pacific Coast to Pasadena, a number that continues to change as new fires break out. The area between Santa Monica and Malibu is home to many Hollywood stars.

Mark Hamill was evacuated from his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood. The actor shared a personal update on his Instagram account, saying, “Personal fire update: 7pm – Malibu evacuated, so last minute there were small fires on both sides of the road as we approached PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).”

Actor James Woods posted on X about evacuating his home, which he fears he may have lost to the fire. “It’s like losing someone dear to you,” he wrote, adding in another post: “It’s a test for your soul, I must say losing everything all at once.”

Billy Crystal and his family lost the home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood they had lived in for 45 years.

“Janice and I have lived in our house since 1979. We have raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. “We are sad, of course, but with the love of our children and friends, we will get through this.”

Mandy Moore lost her home in the Altadena neighborhood about 30 miles east of Palisades.

“Honestly, I am in shock and numb to everyone who has lost so much, including my family. My kids’ school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, flat. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too,” Moore wrote on Instagram in a post that included a clip. Video of the destroyed streets of the hillside suburb “Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. “Sending love to everyone affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control,” Moore added.

Paris Hilton posted a news clip on Instagram that she said included footage of her destroyed Malibu home.

“This house was the place where we built so many precious memories. It is where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building lifelong memories with London,” she said, referring to her young children.

According to Velvet Ropes, which maps celebrity properties, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Dr. Dre, Hilary Swank, Sally Field, Tyra Banks, Martin Short, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Love Hewitt all own homes near where the fires burned.

Awards season disruptions

The wildfires disrupted many entertainment events and threw the carefully orchestrated awards season in Hollywood into chaos.

Three awards ceremonies, including the AFI Awards, scheduled for this weekend have been postponed. The Critics’ Choice Awards, which were scheduled to take place on Sunday, have been postponed until February 26.

Next week’s Oscar nominations have been postponed for two days until January 19, and the Film Academy has extended the voting window to accommodate members affected by the fires.

Along with canceled awards ceremonies and movie premieres, many iconic monuments immortalized on screen were destroyed.

The fire burned parts of Palisades Charter High School, which has been featured in several Hollywood productions including the 1976 horror film. currya 2003 reprint of Freaky Friday and the TV series Teen Wolf.

The Palisades Fire also destroyed the historic ranch home owned by Hollywood legend Will Rogers. It was among multiple buildings destroyed in both Will Rogers State Historic Park and Topanga State Park. The historic Topanga Ranch Motel, built by William Randolph Hearst in 1929, also burned.

The Hollywood Hills Fire is also burning near several Hollywood landmarks, including the Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theater and Hollywood Bowl.
