Hollywood actress, Dalis Curry, dies in Los Angeles wildfires
Retired actress Dalis Curry, known for her roles in films such as The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments and Lady Sings the Blues, has died in the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, Forbes reported Monday.
She was 95 years old.
Authorities confirmed that Carey’s remains were found in her burned home in Altadena, California.
According to her granddaughter, Dalis Kelly, Carrie was last seen on the evening of January 7 when Kelly drove her home.
The next morning, Kelly tried to check on her but was unable to get past police barricades near the area.
The family searched for Carrie at the Pasadena Civic Center, set up as a shelter for displaced residents, but she could not be found.
Days later, officials confirmed that her remains had been discovered at the site of her destroyed home.
āAbout an hour ago the coroner confirmed that her remains had indeed been found on the property. #RIPMOMMADEE,ā Kelly wrote on Facebook on Sunday, January 12. āWe had a great run. You have affected my life in many ways. “This loss is devastating.”
āShe was very active,ā said her granddaughter, Lori Beamer Wilkinson. āYou wouldn’t think she was 95.ā
Curry’s death is one of at least 24 deaths reported in the Los Angeles area as a result of the fires.
