Hilary Duff takes celebrity friend over LA wildfires

Hilary Duff offered refuge to her friend and fellow celebrity Mandy Moore and her family after the devastation caused by the Eaton Fire in Altadena, California.

TooFab reported that Moore shared that the “main part” of her and her husband’s home, Taylor Goldsmith’s home in Altadena, is “still standing” in a Jan. 10 Instagram post. She said it was “unlivable but mostly intact.” She also noted that the fire left Goldsmith’s brother, Griffin Goldsmith, and his wife, Kate Goldsmith, without their home.

Page Six reported this Griffin Goldsmith said Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma, welcomed Moore and her family into their home.

“They are currently housing my brother’s family. They have taken care of my entire family from the moment this started,” Griffin Goldsmith wrote. in a January 12 Instagram post.

According to Page Six, Griffin Goldsmith mentioned that Duff and Koma set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help him and his wife, who are expecting their first child, after the fire in his Instagram post.

“Our dear friends @matthewkoma and @hilaryduff thought it would be wise to set up a fund for us to help move everything forward,” Goldsmith wrote in his social media post.

Additionally, he thanked Duff and Koma for helping him and his family through this difficult time.

“I will never be able to thank them enough. This is the kindest act any human being can do for another. They are the most beautiful and selfless people we have ever known,” Goldsmith continued.

Page Six reported that Moore got some backlash for sharing the GoFundMe fundraiser on her Instagram Stories. Moore shared that she was frustrated by the criticism in a separate Instagram story.

“We lost most of our lives in a fire too. Please F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything,” Moore wrote, as reported by Page Six.

She was defended by Moore’s former friend, Spencer Pratt, who lost his home in the Pacific Palisades fire In TikTok upload on January 12. He described Moore as a kind and beautiful person. Pratt also warned his social media followers to stop criticizing Moore.

“There’s a lot of people I follow, and you’re showing up on my page. I want to block you, sew you up, and come for you. But maybe take down your content about Mandy Moore because Mandy Moore is real,” Pratt said during his TikTok video.

Milo Ventimiglia, Moore’s “The Is Us” co-star, was also affected by the Los Angeles fires. While speaking to CBS Mornings on January 10Ventimiglia shared that he and his pregnant wife, Jara Mariano, no longer have their home due to the Pacific wildfires. During the interview, an emotional Ventimiglia said the situation was “heavy.”

“You start thinking — man, it goes so fast — you start thinking about all the memories and the different parts of the house and so on,” Ventimiglia said.
