How does voting work?

German citizens will vote twice: once for a local member in Parliament and the second for a party. The party must get at least 5 percent of the national votes for Bundestag, the elected chamber of the brief parliament.

The second vote is the most important and is widely reported on the election night because it determines the number of seats that a party in general in Bundestag and the party’s strength within a coalition government may be part of it.

Whatever the party that proves most of the seats will be a candidate as a consultant, and the new Bundestag will vote. The candidate must secure an absolute majority to take the constitutional oath as a new leader of the country.

What are the main issues?

The slow economy, immigration and the Ukraine war were the best issues in the campaign.

Investigative studies have suggested that many voters want to pay less than taxes, but doing this will be difficult. Germany has been in stagnation over the past two years, and its main industries have been struggling to maintain competition.

The number of unemployment is more than 6 percent, and the debt brake, which limits government borrowing, also causes problems.

Who could be the next German adviser?

A coalition government is likely to be formed because no one party has won an absolute majority. The only time that one parliamentary group got the majority, the parliamentary period was from 1957 to 1961 when CDU/CSU won the elections in West Germany.

Whatever the party that inhibits the largest number of votes, it will nominate a candidate as a consultant, and the new Bundestag will vote on the person. The candidate must secure the absolute majority to achieve the constitutional oath.

Below are the candidates advisers on the first four parties:

  • Mirz, 69, is the candidate, according to opinion polls. The leader of CDU became after the former Chancellor Angela Merkel stepped in 2021.
  • And it indicates46, has participated in the AFD anti -migration leadership since 2017.
  • Schuls66, from SPD has been a consultant since December 2021.
  • Hapik55, is the candidate that represents the vegetables. He is the current deputy advisor and Minister of Economy and climate.
