Former UFC star Conor McGregor has been accused of sexual assault in an NBA match in a civil suit filed against the Irishman in a US court. The alleged incident occurred in 2023 and was previously part of a criminal allegation against McGregor that the Florida State Attorney’s Office declined to move forward with. The woman, who has not been named, alleges in court documents that she was sexually assaulted in the restrooms at the Miami Heat’s Cascia Center in June 2023 as the pair were in the hospitality area.
The women reported the incident two days later. Her lawyer, James Dunn, said in an email that she decided to file the case now because her identity was leaked to a media outlet.
“After the Miami-Dade County District Attorney’s Office has chosen not to file criminal charges, a civil case is the only way my client has to pursue justice in this case,” Dunn said in the emailed statement.
“After a thorough investigation at the time, the state’s attorney general concluded that there was no case to be pursued,” said Barbara Lanis of Gelber, Schachter & Greenberg, McGregor’s attorney. “Almost two years and at least three attorneys later, the complainant has a new false claim.” “. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”
The complainant is suing Cassia Center staff and security for “gross negligence” and is demanding “past and future medical treatment, damages and costs, and such other relief as the court deems reasonable,” the court said. Court documents.
