UAE News Report: Fashion Week 2021 showcased Asia’s best designers and their exceptional collections. The event debuted at The Arena, IMG Worlds of Adventure, on a gorgeous purpose-built ramp, kicking off a three-day fashion extravaganza that promises to delight every style lover and style influencer.
“In line with the path set by the rulers of Dubai, we have created this Fashion Week to support designers. Our aim is to revive the business of fashion, and stimulate livelihood generation for fiber farmers, weavers, millers, embroidery workers and tailors. It is time to shine the spotlight on designers, choreographers and make-up artists “And hair, models and light sound producers, to give them a platform to shine post-pandemic and is also at the forefront of Supreme Events, the producers of this prestigious event.”
Emirati elegance was echoed through the collections launched by Ikat House and Zahra Atelier. The Victor Closet collection was a visual documentation of how modern and minimalist men in Dubai prefer to explore and express themselves through design and clothing. Angelo Estera’s eponymous collection shows how Dubai is still full of high fashion culture and has an eternal love for luxurious handmade embellishments. The diversity of this lineup reflects leadership’s commitment to cultural diversity and inclusion.
Ikat House
Rabia Zaid and Amira Al Ahli, two sisters who together founded “Ikat House” to revive their Emirati and Uzbek heritage. Using a treasure trove of ikat prints, gifted to them by their grandmother, they have given a modern spin to local fashion staples such as the Emirati mukhawar. While Rabia Z’s designs were modest and modern with a touch of feminine flow, Amira showcased luxurious and bold streetwear. Both collections reflect the region’s broad vocabulary of women’s fashion.
Zahra Atelier
Emirati designer Atelier Zahra showcased the “Rebirth Collection” that celebrates Dubai’s love for grace and elegance. Rich, high-quality fabrics, expertly crafted, in an ethereal color palette of emerald green, fuchsia and romantic yellow, all inspired by the beauty of the ocean. This collection represents the designer’s vision and is designed to make every woman feel elegant and comfortable.
Victor’s closet
Victor Closet creates menswear fashion for the unconventional, courageous and confident man. This collection highlighted the unique signature and unique vision of the three designers to create standout streetwear pieces. Paying great attention to detail, from hand-stitching to precision cutting, the designers have perfected each collection by focusing on details. This is not a collection for the faint of heart, but rather a style choice to be made by men who want to be at the forefront of style.
Angelo Astera
Evoking the final celebration of high fashion, shown at the last winter ball hosted by the Russian Tsar in the early 19th century, Angelo Estera delved into pages of Russian history to recreate them in a contemporary context. Echoing the elegance and elegance of luxury, the designer used richly embroidered fabrics, French lace and sheer tulle. It is embellished with rare caviar beadwork to create ensembles fit for modern royalty. Angelo’s fashion design skills were evident through his high-tech design of exquisitely crafted ball gowns and suits.
The grand finale of the first day proved to be a spectacular show, meticulously choreographed, interspersed with dance, gymnastics and theatre, as well as storytelling. A visual treat of beautiful models gliding down the catwalk, accompanied by dancers and acrobats, all displaying exceptional combinations. This amazing experience will remain in the audience’s memory for a long time.
The first day set the bar very high for the following days, setting a new course for fashion platforms in the MENA and Asia region. By highlighting the best fashion talent that the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region has to offer, the event created a range of opportunities for emerging designers and students. Most of the collections have been created to stimulate economic sustainability for weavers, painters, artisans, tailors and handloom makers who have been hit hard during the pandemic, ensuring that Fashion Week 2021 is all about style and substance.
Alongside the glamorous display, there was a community initiative called ‘Bazaar’, which showcased delightful products from small and micro business owners in the area. The development of this in a purpose-built format, and the high quality of production designed by Supreme Events, consciously executed in line with international fashion week standards, is unprecedented in this region.
