Colombia pledges ‘war’ against leftist rebels after violence kills more than 100 people


Colombia declared a state of emergency and launched a military offensive against leftist rebels following violence that killed more than 100 people and threatened the peace process. The unrest spread across three provinces, displacing 20,000 people, due to militia wars linked to the cocaine trade. The administration of President Gustavo Petro faces a major challenge.
