Cameron Diaz didn’t think she’d ever make another movie, until Jamie Foxx called her.
Diaz revealed how she spent the past 10 years out of the spotlight before returning to acting in Foxx’s Back in Action.
“I wasn’t keeping up with any kind of training,” the 52-year-old actress said in a video she posted.I still watch Netflix.“I didn’t do anything public. “I said no to everything, except my wine.”
During her hiatus in Hollywood, Diaz started her own wine company, Avaline.

“I didn’t think I’d make another movie. I was perfectly happy, you know, living my life and doing other things.”
“That’s what I was focusing most of my focus on, if I was doing anything other than just being a mom and getting through my day,” Diaz explained.
The “Charlie’s Angels” star revealed what prompted her to return to acting after a decade away from the spotlight. Diaz made 38 films in 20 years. She is known for her roles in “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, “There’s Something About Mary”, “My Sister’s Keeper”, “Shrek”, “The Other Woman” and many other films.
“I didn’t think I’d make another movie,” she admitted. “I was perfectly happy, you know, living my life doing other things. You know, day to day, not movies. Then I got a phone call from Jamie Foxx. And how do you say no to Jamie Foxx? When he says, ‘Hey, I’ve got this big comedy job.’ Which we can have a lot of fun with.”
“If there was one person I would go back to and spend months on end on set and have a ball and laugh with, it would be Jimmy.”

Diaz revealed that nothing could change her mind about her decision to leave Hollywood in an interview in October. She stopped acting in 2014 to focus on building a life with her husband, Benji Madden.
“It felt like the right thing for me to get my life back, and I didn’t really care about anything else,” the actress said during an appearance at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, according to E! news.
“No one’s opinion, no one’s success, no one’s offer, nothing could change my mind about my decision to take care of myself and build the life I really wanted to live. I think it really came down to what are you passionate about? For me, it was building my family.”

“Back in Action,” which prompted Diaz’s return to acting, has been delayed due to Foxx’s health concerns in 2023, and is now scheduled to be released Jan. 17 on Netflix.
Diaz appeared on the red carpet alongside Foxx on January 15 in Germany to promote the film.
She admitted she “couldn’t say no” to Foxx for what would ultimately be their third project together after they starred in “Annie” and “Any Gift Sunday.”

However, it was not easy to change the path from mother to Hollywood star.
“We’ve been at home for a long time, which has been great,” Diaz said at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, describing her time away from the industry.
“So, I had to push myself. My husband, he’s the best. He’d say, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family.’ And supporting him in his business says, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let your mother step up and do what she wants.'”
