British heavyweight Tyson Fury announced his retirement from boxing again
British heavyweight Tyson Fury has retired from boxing – again – one month after losing his rematch with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
36-year-old Fury announced the decision on Short video He posted it on his Instagram account on Monday, which included a cryptic message.
Fury said: “Hello everyone, I will make this short and sweet. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing.” “It was a blast, I loved every minute of it and I’ll end with this: Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, see you on the other side.”
It was not clear why Fury referred to Turpin, a famous 18th-century English highway robber and horse thief.
Fury was upset at Unanimous decision When he lost his December 21 rematch with Usyk in Saudi Arabia. However, Usyk landed 179 of 423 punches thrown (42%), while Fury landed 144 of 509 punches thrown, 28%.

Fury admitted to making mistakes, particularly by exaggerating in showmanship, when he lost his first fight in Riyadh last May by a split decision.
British boxing fans were hoping that Fury would next face his compatriot Anthony Joshua, a match that has been talked about for years but now seems unlikely to happen.
Fury announced his retirement before, especially on his thirty-fourth birthday in August 2022.
But he returned to fighting again two months later.
In April of the same year, the self-proclaimed ‘King of the Gypsies’ had already suggested he would retire early after knocking out Dillian Whyte in front of more than 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.
But he never did and won two more bouts, against Dereck Chisora and Francis Ngannou – an MMA fighter making his boxing debut – before finally meeting his match in Usyk.
Fury’s record is 34-2-1, with 24 strikeouts.
The losses to Usyk were the only defeats in Fury’s career, which began in 2008 and included one draw against American boxer Deontay Wilder in 2018.
After recently winning Ring Magazine’s Fighter of the Year award, Usyk thanked Fury in his own humorous way. The two became friends and talked about their mutual respect.
“My friend, you greedy belly, thank you very much, you are my great opponent,” Usyk said, raising his right fist.
Boxing promoter Frank Warren, who worked with Fury, told the BBC that he had not spoken to Fury before announcing his retirement.
“If that’s what he wants to do then great. He did everything he could. He was probably the best British heavyweight of his generation so far,” Warren told BBC Radio. “Twice world champion, he had two close matches against Usyk. He’s got a lot of money, he’s smart, he’s got a beautiful family.”
