Bernhard Langer reveals three reasons why he still plays on the PGA Tour Champions

Bernhard Langer enters the 2025 PGA Tour Champions season after two wins at the end of 2024.

The two-time Masters winner holed a 40-footer on the 18th hole to win the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in November for the first time in his career, capping an injury-plagued season that saw him tear his Achilles tendon in February of last year. . He and his son Jason then defeated Tiger and Charlie Woods in a playoff for the PNC Championship in December.

Now Langer is in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, beginning his 19th season on the PGA Tour Champions. He can still compete at the highest level and he revealed why he still does earlier this week:

“I’ve said for many years that three things have to be in place: I need to be healthy, I have to have fun doing it, and maybe I’ll be in contention,” Langer said when asked about competing for the PGA Tour Champions Championship. .

“If I have these three things, there’s no need to quit. If one or two of them leave me for whatever reason, it’s time to think about it.

Langer added that he was “not sure” when he would suspend it for good.

But he still has a strong desire to win in 2025.

“It would be great if we could win once or twice and stay in the competition as much as possible,” Langer said of his goals throughout the season.

“The goal is to stay healthy because when you’re healthy, you can work on your game and swing the way you want. If you’re not, things are going to be very difficult.”
