Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic took care of business on Friday.
Zverev and Djokovic won in three sets, while Alcaraz needed four sets to win his match.
The stage is almost set for Djokovic and Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, and for the winner of that match with Zverev in the semifinals.
Djokovic needs to beat Jiri Lehica in the fourth round. Lehecka has only made it past the fourth round at a major once in his career.
Alcaraz gets Jack Draper in the fourth round. The 15th-seeded Briton may be tired against Alcaraz since he won three five-set matches in Melbourne.
Zverev’s biggest remaining competitor to reach the semi-finals was American Tommy Paul, who won in straight sets on Friday.
Paul needs a fourth-round win to secure his third place in a Grand Slam quarter-final since the start of 2023.
