An incredible photo shows Iranian moments of courage before execution The world | news

Pictures have captured the incredible moment an Iranian man smiles as he prepares to be executed in Iran.

Majid Kavosevar, 28, was photographed with a noose placed around his neck moments before his execution.

He was convicted of killing Judge Masoud Ahmadi Al-Maqdisi along with his nephew Hussein.

They were publicly executed in Tehran in 2007.

Maqdisi was a judge in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Court. Kavosevar shot him twice, firing from a motorcycle.

Kavosevar fled to the UAE and attempted to obtain refugee status at the US embassy, but was later handed over to UAE police who then extradited him to Iran.

Kavosevar and his nephew were hanged with cranes before they died minutes later.

In the moments before his death, Kavosevar was seen smiling. He even told Iranian police: “I have reached the point where I have decided to eliminate any injustice.”

Kavosevar even waved while handcuffed as he prepared for execution.

The images resurfaced after the killing of two Iranian judges allegedly responsible for a number of executions of political opponents in Tehran on Saturday.

In 2023, 1,153 executions were carried out around the world. This represents a 30% increase compared to 2022 and an 83% increase compared to 2021 figures.

Iran is a major factor in this rise. Tehran alone accounted for 74% of the killings, and Saudi Arabia came in second place.

The Iranian regime cracked down on political protests after holding mass demonstrations in late 2022.

This came after Mahsa Amini was killed while in police custody in September 2022. She was detained on charges of violating Iran’s strict dress code.

“The significant rise in recorded executions is primarily due to Iran,” Agnes Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, said in a statement.

“The Iranian authorities have shown complete disregard for human life and intensified executions for drug-related crimes, further highlighting the discriminatory impact of the death penalty on the most marginalized and poor communities in Iran.”
