An extremely rare coin is selling for 10,000 times its original value and has been dubbed “One in a Million” – but can you spot the error?

Anyone who has loose cash under their sofa could be lucky enough to find the valuable item dating back a few years.

It has been listed More than 10,000 times its £1 value leaving the lucky owner with an amazing opportunity.

The rare typo features Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse, and has been described as a “collector’s dream”.

While most typos do not reach the general public when sifting through coins, some can “slip through the net.”

The startling discovery shows the flaw, where the internal circuit was not put in place correctly.

Those considering making a bid will have to pay a £3.30 delivery fee on top of the initial price.

Based in Swindon, any interested collector has the opportunity to make a bid or purchase the item at the stated price.

The listing says: “Defaced £1 coin. New look coin for 2016. This is a rare misprinted coin. One in a million!”

“The coin is a coin that collectors dream of having because it is so rare. The coins are sifted to prevent misprints but some slip through the net, which makes it very exciting when a coin like this appears.”

The seller has included photos of the coin along with a caption claiming it is from The Royal Mint.

The message read: “Hi, we cannot verify a coin without examining it here first, however, based on your photo, we are confident that this is not a counterfeit.

“We produce around five billion coins every year, and will be issuing 1.5 billion new £1 coins in total.

“As you would expect, we have strict quality controls, but variations will always occur in a small number of coins, especially in the minting process, due to the large quantities and speed of production.”

If you’re wondering if your wallet contains something of value in the store, you’ll need to keep an eye on the serial numbers.
