Exclusive: Amy Hobby (What happened, Miss Simone?) and Hard Work Films founder Laurie Chittle (Mantangi/Maya/Mia) have collaborated on a new music-oriented production project Record Breaker Films+.
The company says it is developing and producing a wide range of musical projects and will combine performances, live events, promotion and collaboration between director and audience.
The initial roster for Record Breaker is set to be revealed soon. The company’s Tribeca documentary 1-800-ON-HER-OWNA film about singer Ani DiFranco, showing at the New York Film Forum in April.
The company has also partnered with coastal creative marketing agency IHeartComix (IHC) to produce multiple films. IHC recently worked on a 500-capacity Rolling Stones concert with Lady Gaga in New York for the release of Hackney DiamondOlivia Rodrigo’s GUTS world tour bus experience, immersive fan destination and Billie Eilish’s second album launch event Happier than ever. The company began as a nightlife promoter and record label in Los Angeles.
